Test Thickness, Diameter or Length and Hardness of tablets using the new PTB320 tablet testing instrument. The PTB320 can be equipped with a COM port to connect an Analytical Balance to test the Weight of a tablet prior to Thickness, Diameter and Hardness. A Tablet Drop Magazine for max. 10 samples can be added, too this makes the PTB320 a semi automated Tablet Testing System. All the results from the same sample are displayed on the LCD instrument display and printed via the printer port which will support either a Matrix or DeskJet (PCL type) printer.
Operating Principle
Depending on the tablet hardness you can manually test between 5 to 8 samples per minute for weight, thickness, diameter and hardness. The user has to transport the samples between the Balance and the PTB320. The correct positioning of shaped samples within the length-hardness test station is done by the sample sorter inside the PTB320. Tested tablets are collected in a removable shoot. To test the thickness of different tablet sizes and shapes, a built-in Laser beam is used.
Within the PTB320 memory testing methods can be filed and recalled, describing the nominal values, tolerance range setting and number of samples to be tested. The user selects which of the test stations should be activated. He may enter any product specific information and established T1 and T2 tolerance ranges using the sealed touch-screen. The printed report will inform the operator if specifications have been passed or failed.
