Tapping Density or Apparent Volume Tester

The PT-TD1 instrument measures the tap or bulk density of powders or granules. The standard operational parameters call for a drop rate of 250 strokes per minute with a drop height 3.0 mm. The total number of drops is programmable via the key pad. Samples are weighed and the test is performed either to a specific number of taps or until the volume measured in the graduated glass cylinder changes by less than 2%. The total volume is in ml and as the powder was weighed before placing into the graduated cylinder, the density can be calculated. The result is therefore expressed in g/ml^-1. The cylinder is supplied with the specified volume of 250ml. A 100ml cylinder with stand platform is available as an option. The PT-TD1 meets the requirements of the USP <616, Method 2> and the EP <2.9.15>
